Reagan Wilson elected to key family law positions
Condon Charles Family Law Partner, Reagan Wilson, was recently elected to two key family law representative positions.
Reagan was recently elected to represent all regional lawyers on the Executive Board of the Family Law Practitioners Association of Queensland (FLPA) at the Annual General Meeting on 5 November 2008. FLPA is the primary representative body for family law practitioners throughout Queensland and plays an important role in providing a link between family lawyers, the Courts, Government and other service providers.
Reagan had previously held this position from 2004 through to 2006 having then in 2006/2007 been elected to the Executive Board of FLPA. He did not seek re-election last year and returns to the role after a twelve month break which he utilised to focus on developing the establishment of the family law practice under the Condon Charles banner. Condon Charles Lawyers now has the largest private family law practice in the Darling Downs region with a team of four (4) lawyers and three (3) support staff.
Reagan was also recently re-elected as the Darling Downs representative for the Family Court's Case Management Committee. Reagan first commenced this position in 2006 and at the recent Downs and South West Law Association Annual General Meeting was re-elected for a further twelve (12) months. This role is of importance to Darling Downs practitioners as it involves a quarterly meeting with the Judges of the Family Court of Australia and other service providers within the Court system and focuses on ongoing issues that arise within the Court system.

New website launched
We’re pleased to present our recently updated website. After several years our old site no longer reflected the firm and it's position in the market. And with the addition of plenty of new faces in the last year or so it was really time to upgrade our online presence.
We’re now able to offer a better insight into what makes Condon Charles special including up to date profiles on each of our partners, associates, solicitors and law clerks. If you haven’t had the chance to come in and meet us in person at least you can put a face to the name at the other end of the phone.
Please take a few minutes to look around the site and by all means tell us what you think. As a firm we’re committed to learning more about, and better understanding, our individual and business clients so if you think our site doesn’t tell you what you want to know or doesn’t reflect what it's really like to work with us – please tell us!
New President of Chamber of Commerce
Condon Charles Managing Partner Shane Charles was elected President of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce in 2008.
Shane has been a long-time supporter of the Chamber and has served on the Board for the past three years.
Shane’s appointment to this position reflects both his commitment to the development of the business community in Toowoomba and also his depth of understanding of the issues affecting business. This understanding has been built up over his years of practice in advising many of Toowoomba’s most successful local businesses.
Shane is looking forward to the opportunity to be the voice of Toowoomba’s business community and facing up to challenges including the ongoing debate over 7 day trading.
End of year Celebrations
Life at Condon Charles reflects the lives of our clients. And with a major part of our practice based on helping business and individuals with issues involving structuring the lead up to the end of the financial year can be hectic.
That’s why when we make it to June 30 we like to take some time to celebrate the past financial year’s successes and challenges and we can’t think of a better way of doing that than inviting people into our office for a few drinks.
We were therefore particularly pleased to host so many of our clients and business associates on Monday 30 June for a drink or two and some discussion of the year past and what the year ahead has in store. The gathering also gave us the opportunity to introduce some of the people in the office that clients don’t often get to see face to face and those in practice areas they may be unfamiliar with.
New Faces
Condon Charles is pleased to introduce two new faces to the office who started with us on 21 July. Husband and wife team John and Sheelagh Gray have joined the firm after a move from Goondiwindi to Toowoomba with their two small children.
Sheelagh has recently completed her law degree and is starting her one year trainee solicitor period under the guidance of Shane Charles. John meanwhile has been practising law for a few years and will work part-time in estate planning. John also has a background in law firm marketing and will provide marketing services to the firm on a consultancy basis.
